ABOUT ME

For those of you who don’t already know, I lost my blog That Little Touch (thatlittletouch.com) so I moved my posts from that blog over to my new blog Sweet Southern Blue.  You will notice a lot of posts on the same date which is just me switching over.  For those of you who are here for the first time…
Me
Hi, my name is Shelia and I want to welcome you to Sweet Southern Blue. My sister and I decided to create a blog for our photography called Southern Blue.(http://www.southernbluephotography.com/)  When deciding on a name for our photography blog we decided to pay tribute to both of my grandmothers who have both gone home to heaven.  Southern Blue is the name of an iris (Southern Blue Flag Iris).  Our paternal grandmothers name was Iris and our maternal grandmothers name was Emma and we spent many hours playing in the field of iris she always grew.  I think of her everytime I see or smell an iris. Both of our grandmothers loved the color blue so Southern Blue seemed like the perfect fit.  When I transferred my blog, I decided to call it Sweet Southern Blue.

I grew up in a small town in Arkansas and spent many days of my childhood on my grandmothers farms wandering the woods, catching June bugs, riding horses, and fishing in the creek. My grandmother Emma taught me how to crochet, how to shoot a gun, the techniques of catching a dooblebug, and how to sew a quilt on a treadle sewing machine (which I still have).

I spent many hours in my grandmothers learning to cook and can foods.  My grandmother Iris made the best coconut cake and my grandmother Emma made homemade rolls that would melt in your mouth.

    1. I hate writing about myself but I could talk for hours about my grandmothers and how important they were in my life. My daughter is about to graduate from college and begin her new officially grown-up life. I hope one day to be able to create beautiful memories for her children the same way my grandmothers did for me.
